Box Score SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Mingyu Wee scored a pair of second half goals, lifting Bethesda University of California to a 3-1 victory over the The College of Idaho, in the final game of the Westminster Labor Day Classic at Dumke Field.
Wee broke a scoreless tie in the 63rd minute, driving home a free kick from outside the box after a C of I foul. Less than 90 seconds later, Wee converted a penalty kick for the Flames (2-4-1) to extend the lead.
The Yotes (0-2) got on the board in the 77th minute, when Nicko Moreno took a pass from John Fronk and slotted home a goal, but BUC got an insurance goal in the 88th minute, as Jose Lopez scored on a counterattack off a feed from Victor Magana.
The Flames held a 12-9 edge in total shots, though the Yotes held a 4-2 lead in corner kicks. An offsides trap worked well for BUC, as C of I was whistled for seven offsides calls.
The Yotes return to action next weekend, closing out their non-conference slate with two games at the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge in Spokane, Wash.
