Lady Yotes Score 69-56 Road Win at Concordia

Laura Geis had 12 points in the C of I win
PORTLAND, Ore. – Felicity Jones scored 17 points and had six steals, leading The College of Idaho to a key 69-56 victory at Concordia University, tonight inside Cavalier Court.

The win for the No. 17 ranked Lady Yotes (18-7, 14-3 CCC) clinched the No. 2 seed into next week’s Cascade Conference Championships – withstanding a furious second half rally from the host Cavaliers (11-16, 5-12).

Jones scored eight points in a 12-4 Coyote run to open the game, with the lead extending to 21-11 on a Dayna Drager three-pointer.  The C of I would build four 10-point leads in the first half and settled for a 35-27 lead at the break.

The Yotes exploded out of the gates after halftime, using a 16-4 run to take their biggest lead of the night at 51-31 with just over 12 minutes remaining.  CU would not quit, as Malori Dixon hit a pair of three’s in a 15-1 run that cut the margin to 52-46.  The C of I lead was 58-53 with just 4:47 remaining, but the Lady Yote defense cracked down, limiting the Cavs to 1-of-6 shooting and two turnovers the rest of the way, to seal the victory.

Drager and Laura Geis each had 12 points for the Coyotes, with Chakala Carthen adding seven points and 10 rebounds, as The C of I made 43-percent of their field goal attempts.

Dixon led CU with 18 points and McKenna Daly posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, but the Cavaliers could not overcome 25 turnovers and a 32-percent shooting clip.

The C of I closes out the regular-season tomorrow night with a road game at Warner Pacific.
