Lady Yotes Clinch Home Playoff Game with 65-56 win

Sienna Edmunson scored a career-high 10 points in the win
CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho closed the game on a 14-5 run over the final six minutes, as the Lady Yotes clinched a home Cascade Confence postseason tournament game with a 65-56 victory over Northwest Christian.

Box Score

Sienna Edmunson scored all of her career-high 10 points in the second half, including a three-point play with just under eight minutes to go that erased the Beacons (13-11, 6-7 CCC) final lead of the night at 48-47.  After Sami Pitts drained a three-pointer to tie the score at 51-51, the Yotes got a driving lay-up by Katelin Shannon, Chakala Carthen split two defenders for a basket, and Edmunson banked home a runner with four minutes left to push the lead to 57-51.

Katie Collins got NCU within 59-56 with a three-pointer with two minutes to go, but the Lady Yotes (16-6, 12-2) forced two turnovers and made 4-of-4 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

The C of I got five quick points from Dayna Drager in an 11-5 run to open the game, but Andrea Gloss scored a trio of baskets in a 12-0 NCU run that gave the Beacons their largest lead of the night at 23-15.  The Yotes responded, scoring the next 11 points to take the lead, pushing the margin to 34-26 lead on a Shannon basket, before Aly Bruns hit a 40-foot heave at the horn to cut the margin to five at the break.

NCU battled back in the final 20 minutes to tie the game at 39-39 on a Katie Collins jumper, but three's from Edmunson and Shannon pushed C of I's lead back to six.  However, Collins canned a second trey, part of a 7-0 Beacons run to give the visitors the lead, setting up the finish.

Carthen had a career-high 21 points and seven rebounds in the win, with Shannon adding 11 points and four steals.  Drager scored 10, Edmunson added six rebounds, with Laura Geis leading all players with 14 boards.

Gloss had 16 points and 11 rebounds in the loss, with Collins adding 15 points.  NCU leading scorer, Lindsey Shearer, was held to seven points - the first time this season she had been held to single digits.

The C of I closes out their regular-season home schedule tomorrow night against Corban - honoring four senior student-athletes, as Shannon, Geis, Felicity Jones, and Kylie Hardison play their final regular-season home tilt.
