Big First Half Leads Yotes Past Montana Tech, 99-87

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Taylor Pruett led five College of Idaho players in double figures with 20 points, including a big three-pointer late in the contest, as the Yotes closed non-conference play with a 99-87 victory over Montana Tech.

The Yotes (9-3) trailed early 22-12, but used a 23-4 run midway through the first half to take the lead for good. A three-point play by Joe Vaz started the run, with back-to-back three's from Josh Wilson and Pruett getting the Yotes within a basket. Four straight free throws by Demetrius Perkins gave the Yotes their first lead, with a Perkins three-point play capping the run.

A Jordan O'Byrne jumper gave C of I a 67-51 lead early in the second half, but the Orediggers (6-4) battled back late, cutting the lead to 86-82 on a Trent Thompson three with 3:26 left. The Yotes persevered, as back-to-back Wilson baskets and a Pruett three got the lead to 93-82, and C of I hit free throws to secure the win.

Sydney Donaldson had 17 points, O'Byrne had 16, and Wilson 15 for the Yotes – as C of I connected on 60-percent of their field goal attempts.

Bryan Bock led MT with 29 points and 10 rebounds, with Adam Greger scoring 25 in the loss.

The Coyotes open up Cascade Conference play on Friday night, traveling to Northwest University for a 7:30 p.m. (PST) tip.
