SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Westminster College used a stifling defense to hold The College of Idaho 37 points under their season average, as the Griffins ended the Coyotes eight-game win streak with a 69-55 victory inside Behnken Field House.
The Griffins (5-4), who snapped a three-game losing streak, held C of I to just four made first half field goals – taking a 27-16 lead to the locker room. The Yotes (8-3) got within five twice in the second half – the last at 54-49 on a Demetrius Perkins three with four minutes to go, but could not get closer.
Jordan Pryor had a game-high 22 points for Westminster, making 12-of-15 free throws – as the hosts made 29-of-48 free throw attempts in the victory. Colton Moon added 15 points, including three three-pointers for the Griffins.
Joe Vaz led the Yotes with 10 points and six rebounds – with Josh Wilson, Sydney Donaldson, and Perkins all scoring nine. The Yotes finished a season-low 15-of-45 from the field, including 4-of-20 from three-point range.
The Yotes close out non-conference play tomorrow night, meeting Montana Tech at 4 p.m.
