SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Joe Bolin hammered home a cross early in the second half, helping The College of Idaho keep their playoff hopes alive with a 1-0 victory at Northwest Christian this afternoon at Mike Kelly Field.
The victory for the Coyotes (5-12, 5-8 CCC) keeps the squad alive in the Cascade Conference playoff chase - needing a home victory next Saturday over Warner Pacific and an Evergreen loss at Northwest Christian to secure the No. 4 spot in the league tournament.
C of I held a 6-2 edge in shots in the opening half, nearly taking the lead in the 16th minute when Nicko Moreno laced a 20-yard blast off the crossbar. After the intermission, the Yotes got the lone goal of the match in the 53rd minute, when Moreno played a cross to the top of the 18, finding Bolin, who drove a shot into the upper right corner of the net.
The Beacons (2-15, 2-11) had their lone shot on goal in the 63rd minute, as Kenny Kessler was turned away by Colin Benham-Marin. The Yotes held a 12-1 edge in shots in the second half to complete the season sweep of NCU.
