Yotes Season Ends in Double Overtime

Box Score

SALEM, Ore. - Arsinio Walker headed home the game-winning goal in the 102nd minute, helping top-seeded Corban University withstand upset-minded College of Idaho, 1-0, in a Cascade Conference Championships semifinal match at Sparks Field.

The Warriors (15-1-2) move on to play third-seeded Concordia on Saturday for a berth in the NAIA National Championships.

Corban earned a free kick near the sideline early in the second overtime, with Tim Kagey playing a ball into the area. Kemar Prince headed the ball in a crowd to the waiting head of Walker, redirecting the ball over C of I (6-13) keeper Colin Benham-Marin and into the net.

The Yotes thought they won the game in the first overtime, as a long through-ball in the 97th minute found Joe Bolin, who slotted the ball into the net - but was whistled for being offside.

The teams played even through the first 90 minutes - as the Warriors held a slim 15-12 edge in shots and a 7-6 edge in corners, while the Yotes had the lone corner in extra time. Corban nearly got on the board early on, as a Walker shot in the fourth minute was redirected off the goal line by C of I defender, Cristian Sanchez. The Yotes had a chance in the seventh minute, but a Bolin try was deflected wide of the goal by a diving Jordan Farr.

Farr recorded his 11th shutout of the season with the win, making five saves, while Benham-Marin had five saves in his final C of I appearance. It is the second-straight Coyote playoff match to go to overtime - as C of I dropped a decision to Warner Pacific in a shootout to close the 2010 season.
