Yotes Break Century Mark in Win Over Walla Walla

Box Score

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Taylor Pruett led seven College of Idaho players in double figures with 22 points, helping the Coyotes to their highest-scoring output since the 2006-07 season in a 115-67 rout of Walla Walla University at the Quinn Classic.

The win for the Yotes (1-2) was the first in the head coaching career of Scott Garson - as C of I connected on 54-percent of their field goal attempts. It was the highest output by a Coyote team since scoring 116 points at the 2006 Golden Rule Shootout - one of five times that season C of I eclipsed the century mark.

C of I broke an early tie with a 16-2 run in the opening eight minutes - as Jordan O'Byrne hit a three and Antonio Garrett added five points. The Yotes got seven-straight points from Zach Peterson and two Pruett treys in an 18-4 run late in the half to build a 57-29 lead at the half.

The Yotes extended the lead to 89-49 midway through the second half on a Demetrius Perkins three-point play, breaking the 100-point mark on a Freddy Moto lay-up with six minutes to go.

Pruett hit 4-of-5 three-point attempts in the victory, adding six rebounds in just 20 minutes of playing time. Both Garrett and Joe Vaz recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds, with Peterson adding 13 points of the bench. Andrew Bruce tallied a career-high 12 points, Perkins scored 11, and O'Byrne chipped in with 10. Josh Wilson had a game-high 10 assists in the victory.

The Wolves (0-3) were led by 18 points from Miguel Martinez, with Tristan Greenidge and Andrew Nye each scoring 13. WWU made just 11-of-33 free throws and recorded 27 turnovers.

The Yotes close out tournament play tomorrow night, meeting Carroll College at 5:30 p.m.
