Yotes Drop Tough 3-0 Road Decision at Evergreen

Box Score

OLYMPIA, Wash. - First half goals by Ethan Sumlin and Bryce Baum gave The Evergreen State College a lead they would not relinquish, as the host Geoducks blanked The College of Idaho, 3-0, at CRC Field #4.

The victory for the Geoducks (6-5-3, 4-4-2 CCC) moved the squad into sole possession of fourth-place in the Cascade Conference table - two points ahead of the Coyotes (4-10, 4-6) with four matches left in the regular-season.

In a match that featured 30 fouls and three cards, Evergreen struck early in the 14th minute, as Sumlin corralled a blocked Willie Spurr shot and flicked home the sitter for the 1-0 lead. ESC added to the lead in the 28th minute, as Spurr played a ball to the top of the six, with Baum one-timing a shot into the net. Evergreen capped the scoring in the 62nd minute, as Dyson Fowler made a nice move down the middle of the field, alluding the C of I defense for an unassisted tally.

ESC keeper Mauricio Sanchez had four saves in the shutout win, as the Geoducks held a 16-9 edge in shots and withstood seven C of I corner kick chances.

The Yotes return to action tomorrow afternoon with a 3 p.m. start against Northwest University.
