Box Score

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Colin Benham-Marin made eight saves, including a crucial stop of a penalty kick in the first half, as The College of Idaho ended a nine-match road winless streak, claiming a key 2-0 victory at Oregon Tech.

With the win, the Yotes (4-9, 4-5 CCC) pull into a tie for the fourth in the Cascade Conference standings with three weeks left in the regular-season - with the top-four teams advancing to the CCC Postseason Tournament. It was the first win away from Caldwell for the Purple and Gold since September of 2012.

C of I had the run of the pitch over the first 30 minutes, capitalizing off a corner kick in the 32nd minute. Joao Cardoso played the ball into the scrum - finding the head of Cristian Sanchez, who found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The Owls (5-7, 4-4) look to answer, as a foul in the box gave OIT an opportunity from the penalty spot. However, Benham-Marin turned away Ashton Betts attempt, with a rebound attempt from Colton Grytness missing wide.

The Yotes extended the lead in the 57th minute, as Cardoso played a long ball up the middle of the field that Joe Bolin ran onto. Bolin beat Tech keeper Loren Jessen 1-on-1 for his fifth goal of 2013 and the 2-0 advantage. OIT put pressure on Benham-Marin in the final 15 minutes, but the Coyote keeper turned away all four chances for his second shutout of the season.

The Yotes held a 21-15 edge in total shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks as C of I completed a season sweep of the Owls.

C of I continues their five-match road swing next weekend with tilts at Evergreen and Northwest.
