Balanced Effort Leads Yotes to Win at Corban

Antonio Garrett was 5-of-5 from the field in the Yotes win
SALEM, Ore. – A balanced scoring effort helped The College of Idaho end a four-game losing streak to Corban University, as the Coyotes rolled to a 72-60 victory tonight in the C.E. Jeffers Center.

Box Score

Seven different Coyotes (8-9, 4-3 CCC) scored at least six points in the game, as The C of I used a rare 46-29 rebound edge to earn the road conference win.

Miguel Rodriguez canned a three-pointer in a 9-0 first half run that erased the Warriors (6-8, 2-4) lone lead of the game at 8-6, with The C of I holding Corban to one made field goal over an eight minute stretch of the half to build a 17-point lead, taking a 31-17 lead to the break.

The lead would stretch to 38-19 early in the second half on a Rodney Delgardo three-pointer, before Andrew Evans led a Corban rally, scoring five points in an 8-0 run that got the hosts within 48-41 at the midway point in the period.  However, a Taylor Pruett three-point play and an Antonio Garrett basket got the lead back to double-digits, with the Yotes hitting 16-of-23 free throws in the second half to seal the win.

Sydney Donaldson led The C of I with 14 points, with Delgardo scoring 12, and Garrett going a perfect 5-of-5 from the field, scoring 12.  Pruett had nine points and a team-high eight rebounds, with Rodriguez scoring seven points, adding six rebounds and six assists.

Evans had a career-high 16 points for the Warriors, with Josiah Sebens adding 10.  Corban was held to just 34-percent shooting on the night – including 23-percent from the field in the first half.

The C of I returns to action tomorrow night, traveling to Northwest Christian at 7:30 p.m.
