SPOKANE, Wash. - Greg Montgomery equaled his own school record for the fastest 8,000-meter time in College of Idaho history, winning the individual title at the Runners' Soul Erik Anderson Invitational at Plantes Ferry Park.

The outstanding effort by the three-time cross country All-American helped the Coyotes place second overall - behind No. 6 ranked Lewis-Clark State, but one point ahead of Eastern Oregon, and well ahead of Montana State-Billings, Gonzaga, Carroll, Rocky Mountain, Whitworth in the overall team results.
In the Cascade Conference/Frontier Challenge portion of the race, the Yotes scored 53 team points, 23 points behind L-C State, but one-point ahead of Eastern Oregon. Carroll finished fourth, with Warner Pacific taking fifth.
Montgomery recorded a time of 24:17, equaling his time from last season's NAIA Championship, defeating unattached runner Jonathan Lafler by four seconds. It was his second win of the 2012 season and his sixth title overall. Dominic Bolin placed seventh overall with his time of 25:41, with Jason Hunt taking 26th overall (26:18).
The Yotes return to action next weekend, competing in the short-course Idaho State Open in Pocatello.
