KIRKLAND, Wash. - Despite controlling most of the possession in the second half, The College of Idaho fell victim to a pair of Northwest University counter-attacks resulting in goals, as the Eagles defeated the Coyotes, 2-0, at the NU Athletic Fields.
Box Score
The loss for the Yotes (0-4-2, 0-2 CCC) continues struggles away from Caldwell, as the C of I has just one road victory in their last 14 matches on opponents' soil.
Despite allowing the Eagles (4-1-1, 2-0) to have a commanding 10-3 edge in shots in the first 45 minutes, the Yotes recorded a clean sheet, as Colin Benham-Marin recorded three saves in the period.
Following the break, the Coyotes had the run of the pitch - but NU countered in the 64th minute, as James Kerr played a cross to the left portion of the area, finding the foot of Ryan Gamache, would knocked the ball into the left corner of the net for the lead.
The C of I continued the onslaught, taking the next nine shots of the match over the next 12 minutes, with Eagles' keeper Joe Galbraith making a trio of saves. NU would counter again, as Gamache streaked down the left side of the field, playing a through-ball to Alex Taylor, who hammered home a shot from the top of the 18.
Despite the loss, the Coyotes held the lead in total shots (18-17), in shots on goal (5-4), and in corner kicks (6-5), however, Galbraith made five saves to record his third shutout of the season.
The Yotes open their home schedule on Wednesday, hosting first-place Concordia at 3:30 p.m.
