NAMPA, Idaho – Freshman Joseph Bolin scored a goal late in the first half, helping The College of Idaho earn a 1-1 draw in their 2012 season opening men’s soccer match-up with rival Northwest Nazarene in Nampa.

After the Division II Crusaders, who were playing the game as an exhibition, took the first eight shots of the match, the Yotes (0-0-1) took advantage of a counter-attack in the 43rd minute, as freshman Jorge Brambila crossed a ball in the middle of the box, as Bolin flicked home the first goal, giving the Yotes a 1-0 lead.
The C of I nearly made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute, as a left-footed drive from Nicko Moreno clanged off the post. NNU would counter, as Daniel Clark corralled a loose ball just outside the box, cracking home the equalizer.
In the overtime periods, both teams have two shots on goal, but could not crack C of I keeper Colin Benham-Marin and NNU keeper Alfredo Ontiveros.
NNU held a commanding 14-5 edge in shots, including a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Ontiveros had two saves for NNU, while Benham-Marin led the way with six saves.
The Yotes return to action this weekend in Salt Lake City, meeting Hope International and host, Westminster College.
