LA GRANDE, Ore. - Despite a postseason appearance and a solid group of returners taking the field this season, the College of Idaho was picked to finish tenth in the 2018 Cascade Conference Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, released by the league office.
The Yotes finished the 2017 season with a 9-9 record, losing to CCC regular-season and tournament champion, Southern Oregon, in overtime during the quarterfinals of the CCC Championships.
C of I was in a six-team logjam in the middle of the poll, as 15 voter points separated fifth-place Carroll College and the tenth-place Yotes, who earned 99 points from the 14 coaches in the balloting.
Rocky Mountain earned 12 first-place votes and 194 voter points to claim the top spot - a year removed from sharing the league title, but not earning a bid to the NAIA Championships. Corban (179 points) and Southern Oregon (157 points) each received a first-place vote and were second and third in the ranking, with Northwest (118) and Carroll (109) rounding out the Top-5.
The Yotes will play two scrimmages and an exhibition game prior to the season opener on Sept. 8 vs the University of Jamestown in Billings, Mont.
