The Yotes (27-6), champions of the Cascade Conference, will meet Mayville State (N.D.) on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. (MT) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Comets (18-10) were the upset champions of the North Star Athletic Association after losing eight of their final 10 regular season contests. They are led by guards Daniel Lindgren and Gorg Ahlag – who both average 14 points a game.
If C of I can advance out of the first-round, familiar opponents dot the rest of their pod. A potential rematch with Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) looms in Friday's second-round (6:30 p.m. MT), as the Tigers meet first-time tournament team Governors State (Ill.). A quarterfinal date Saturday (7 p.m. MT) with defending national champion Union (Ky.) looms – as the Bulldogs eliminated C of I from last season's tournament in the second-round. Also in the Yotes quarter of the bracket is Indiana Tech and West Virginia Tech.
Indiana East claimed the No. 1 overall seed, with Cornerstone (Mich.) and Indiana Wesleyan claiming the No. 1 spots in the remaining two brackets.
Two other Cascade Conference teams will compete in the tournament – as Warner Pacific earned a No. 3 seed and will meet Southeastern (Fla.) in the first round, while Oregon Tech earned an at-large bid, claiming a No. 6 seed and meets Briar Cliff (Iowa).
Full coverage from the national tournament will be available at YoteAthletics.com – including game notes, interviews and photo galleries – with every C of I game broadcast live on 99.1-FM ESPN Boise, with
