ASHLAND, Ore. – Southern Oregon built a 24-point halftime lead and held off an inspired second half push from the College of Idaho, as the No. 12 ranked Raiders earned a 76-63 Cascade Conference victory at Mountain Avenue Gym.
Remi Mejia scored 10 of her 13 points in the opening quarter, as SOU (8-1, 1-1 CCC) used an 18-5 run to take a 27-12 lead after the first quarter, a margin that ballooned to 49-25 at the half. The Raiders forced 15 first half turnovers – scoring 16 points off the miscues.
The Lady Yotes (1-7, 1-1) did not back down after Southern took their largest lead of the night at 61-32 – getting three buckets from
Lindy Westendorf in a 10-1 surge to close the third quarter. The rally continued into the fourth quarter, where C of I made 8-of-9 free throws in the period – winning the second half tally, 38-27.
Alyssa Case led the Yotes with 17 points, with
Keahi-lele Roy scoring 13. Westendorf had nine points and 13 rebounds, while both
Jocelyn Cook-Cox and
Adriana Vickery each scoring career-highs with eight points.
Ariel Augustine scored 16 points for SOU – making three of the Raiders 11 3-point buckets. Both Toria Bradford and Kenadee Honaker scored 10.
C of I will take next weekend off for finals, return home on Dec. 15 to meet Corban University.
