LA GRANDE, Ore. – Despite career-highs from
Lindy Westendorf and
Hannah Maupin, the College of Idaho could not keep up with No. 8 ranked Eastern Oregon, as the Mountaineers topped the Lady Yotes, 87-40, at Quinn Coliseum.
Westendorf scored four of her 10 points in the opening four minutes – as the Lady Yotes (1-10, 1-4 CCC) pulled within 8-6. EOU answered in a big way, hitting three 3-pointers in an 18-0 run – taking a 26-7 lead after the first quarter.
C of I played even with the Mountaineers (11-2, 5-0) in the second quarter, as three Maupin baskets and two jumpers from
Savanna Reid pulled the visitors within 37-20 late in the period – as close as the visitors would get.
EOU broke the game wide open in the third quarter, as Maya Ah You-Dias scored eight of her team-high 18 points in a 25-4 run, as the Mounties extended the margin to 68-26 and cruised to the win.
Alyssa Case had 10 points and Maupin came off the bench to score nine for the Lady Yotes, who made just 16-of-61 field goals on the night.
Ah You-Dias made 4-of-6 3-pointers for EOU, adding five rebounds and five assists, with Payton Parrish and Maren Herrud each scoring 15. The Mountaineers made 51-percent of their field goal attempts, including 12 3-point makes.
C of I is off for the holiday break, returning to the court on Jan. 5 at Northwest University.
