LA GRANDE, Ore. –
Roosevelt Adams scored a career-high 24 points to lead the College of Idaho to their largest victory margin at Eastern Oregon since 1987 – an 89-71 win at Quinn Coliseum.
Adams hit a three-pointer late in the first half in the midst of a 13-0 run, as the No. 12 ranked Yotes (10-4, 4-1 CCC) held EOU without a point over the final five minutes of the frame to take a 46-29 lead to the break. He added consecutive treys early in the second half to extend the lead to 62-36 – as C of I pushed the margin to as many as 31.
The Mountaineers (10-3, 2-3 CCC), who had their five-game home win streak snapped, got nine early points from Blake O'Donnell – taking a 13-6 lead five minutes into the game. The Yotes countered quickly, as
Gibson Berryhill drained a pair of 3's, fueling a 22-5 run that gave C of I the lead for good.
It was C of I's largest victory inside Quinn Coliseum since Dec. 5, 1987 – a 91-63 Coyote win.
Adams made five 3-pointers on the night – as C of I drained 14 shots from outside the arc.
Nate Bruneel had 17 points and Berryhill came off the bench to score a career-high 16. The Yotes held a 42-32 rebound edge – their 14th-straight game this season winning the rebound battle – while forcing 16 turnovers.
Jordan May led EOU with 17 points, with the Yotes limiting the Cascade Conference scoring leader, Max McCullough to just nine points – 13 below his season average.
The Coyotes return to action on Dec. 30 – traveling to Portland Bible for their final non-conference game.
