CALDWELL, Idaho –
Alyssa Case had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the College of Idaho, but the Lady Yotes could not overcome a poor shooting night, as Carroll College grinded out a 48-37 victory in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
Hannah Dean hit back-to-back jump shots in a 10-2 fourth quarter run, as the Saints (1-0) earned their first win of the season.
An 8-0 run spanning the first two quarters gave Carroll a 15-7 lead with eight minutes left in the half – but
Jaida Klor scored seven of her 11 points in a 12-4 run to close the period, as the Lady Yotes (0-1) pulled even at 19-19 at the break.
Case drained a 15-foot jumper midway through the third quarter to tie the game at 26-26, but two Taylor Salonen buckets and two Oona Harrington free throws gave the Saints the lead back – with the NAIA Division I team holding the lead the rest of the way.
Mikaela Olson had 13 points and Michaela Dowdy scored 10 in the win for Carroll, as the Saints withstood a 4-for-27 performance from outside the arc.
C of I made 12-of-13 free throws on the night, but shot 26-percent from the field and recorded 21 turnovers.
The Lady Yotes return to action next weekend, traveling to Lewiston for games against Montana Tech and Lewis-Clark State.
