NAMPA, Idaho – College of Idaho used an 11-1 run to open the second quarter to get within seven points, but Division II Northwest Nazarene proved to be too much, as the Nighthawks overpowered the Lady Yotes, 101-68, in the exhibition opener for both teams inside Johnson Sports Center.

Alyssa Case had 21 points and nine rebounds to lead C of I, including a triple that capped the big run in the second period, cutting a 27-10 NNU lead to 28-21.
The Yotes trailed just 47-38 at the break, but the physical hosts took advantage of a 50-8 edge in points in the paint and 31 second-chance point to pull away. A McKenna Walker trey ended a 9-0 run to extend the Hawks lead to 65-44, with the hosts holding C of I without a made field goal over the first four minutes of the fourth quarter – pushing the lead to 85-52.
True freshman
Jaida Klor had 11 points, four assists and three steals for C of I;
Lindy Westendorf had nine points, with both
Keahi-lele Roy and
Madison Holly scoring seven. The Yotes made 24-of-32 free throws in the loss – but converted just 22-percent of their second half field goal attempts.
Four NNU players scored in double figures, led by 18 points from Avery Albrecht.
C of I returns home on Saturday, opening the regular-season against Carroll College.
