Wilson Named Player of the Year, Perkins First Team

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Senior guard Josh Wilson was named the 2014-15 Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Year today, announced by the league office.

Wilson, a native of Los Angeles, California, becomes the first College of Idaho player named the conference player of the year since Tom Perkes was recognized during the 2003-04 season.

Starting every game at point guard for the Coyotes, Wilson averaged 10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.

"Josh Wilson has done a little bit of everything this year," head coach Scott Garson said. "I am very happy that the coaches in our conference recognized the value that he brought to our team, leading us to another conference championship."

Two other Coyotes were honored by the league office as Demetrius Perkins was named to the All-Conference team after averaging a team-high 14.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. Fellow senior Marko Kovacevic was named as an honorable mention. The senior from Belgrade, Serbia averaged 11.2 points per game while pulling down 7.2 rebounds and blocking 1.1 shots per contest. Kovacevic led the Coyotes with seven double-double games, including a 20-20 game against Montana-State Northern where the senior scored 20 points to go along with 20 rebounds.

"Josh, Demetrius, and Marko are all well deserving of these awards," Garson added. "As they know, all of their teammates share in this accomplishment."
