Yotes Make Men's Basketball Coaching Change

C of I not to renew Rod Jensen's contract

CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho has announced that the contract of men’s basketball head coach Rod Jensen will not be renewed for the 2013-14 season.

Jensen, who led the Coyotes for three seasons, posted an overall record of 38-51 – including an 18-25 home record in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.  His teams qualified for the postseason each of the three seasons, losing each year in the Cascade Conference Championships quarterfinals.

“I commend Rod on his loyalty and commitment to The College of Idaho and bringing in quality student athletes to the Treasure Valley,” said Director of Athletics, Marty Holly.  “However, in the best interest of the program, I believe a change is warranted.”

A search for the 15th head coach since 1933 will begin immediately.

“We need to rekindle the magic that this program had during the Elgin Baylor-R.C. Owens days, the Taft Jackson days, and the success we had during the 1980s and 1990s,” said Holly.  “Our loyal fans have stuck with us through thick and thin – and we will once again restore the proud tradition that is Coyote Basketball.”
