At College of Idaho: Straub joined The College of Idaho Cross Country and Track & Field staff in fall of 2023. He aided the Yotes en route to their 2023 NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championship.
 
Prior to C of I: Straub competed for the Yotes Cross Country and Track & Field from 2017 to 2021. He made NAIA National Championships appearances in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track as a Yote athlete.
 
Personal: During his time as a student, he was also a resident assistant.
