Mark Murdock

AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Murdock is in his 12th season as an assistant coach for the Coyote track team. He is in charge of the development of C of I horizontal and vertical jumps and has coached four Cascade Conference champions (Hailey Bull - triple jump; Austin Basterrechea - high jump/long jump; Joe Bolin - pole vault; Allison Cossins - pole vault). Under his direction, the Yotes have won seven CCC multi-event championships and had 18 competitors qualify for the NAIA Championships

BEFORE C OF I: Murdock has coached at various levels throughout the last 20-plus years - from age-group, high school and post-collegiate, his athletes have won team championships and individual championships, set national records and have competed at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships, USATF Junior Olympic National Championships, USATF Junior Nationals, the 2002 IAAF World Junior Championships, the 2003 Pan-American Junior Championships and the 2004 US Olympic Trials. He also coached a master’s athlete to a double gold medal performance in both the short and long hurdles at the 2005 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships.

PERSONAL: Murdock has competed in the decathlon at masters competitions locally, nationally and internationally. In 2006, Murdock was the USATF M45 National Decathlon Champion and had the No. 1 ranked performance of that age group for that year, while in 2007, he competed at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Riccione, Italy. He has earned 10 All-American performances in the decathlon, pentathlon and pole vault over the last 15 years.
