Ron Bonneau

AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Ron Bonneau is in his 30th season as the head coach of the Coyote men's and women's alpine ski programs. He is the longest tenured head coach on the C of I staff.

HONORS: During his tenure, Bonneau has coached nine USCSA individual national champions; 39 USCSA first-team All-Americans; and 105 USCSA Scholar-Athlete award winners; in 2016, he was honored as USCSA National Coach of the Year.  

CHAMPIONSHIPS: Under Bonneau, the men's and women's squad won the Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference title each year from 2004-09, 2015-16, and 2018 - with the women's team winning the 2017 title.  His women's team also claimed USCSA Western Regional titles in 1999, 2003 and 2006, with the Coyote men winning the crown in 2016.  In the 1990s, C of I cross-country ski teams won a combined five team USCSA titles; since 2009, C of I freestyle teams won a combined eight team USCSA titles; while in 2005, the C of I men's snowboard team won the USCSA slopestyle title.

NATIONAL APPEARANCES: Under his direction, C of I men's alpine teams have made 18 appearances at the USCSA Championships, with the Lady Yotes qualifying for the national championships 24 times - including 20 of the past 21 seasons.  His 2004 women's squad finished second in the USCSA in slalom and fourth in the alpine combined, while from 1999-2011, his women's teams made 13-straight national championship appearances, placing in the Top-9 on nine occasions. In 2016, the Coyote men placed third in the alpine giant slalom, slalom and alpine combined, while the women's team finished fifth in the alpine combined.

PERSONAL: A graduate of Plymouth State College, Bonneau worked at ski resorts in Wachusett, Mass. and Haystack, Vt. prior to moving to the Gem State. He and wife Michele live in Caldwell.
