Pat McCurry

AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: McCurry is in his 13th year at the helm of the C of I cross country and track & field programs.
 
HONORS: Was named the Cascade Conference Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013; the USTFCCCA West Region Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2015; and was honored as CCC Women’s Track & Field Coach of the Year in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.  He has coached four NAIA individual national champions; nine NAIA cross country All-Americans; 15 NAIA track & field All-Americans; and 45 NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes.
 
1488CHAMPIONSHIPS: McCurry led the women’s cross country team to CCC titles in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013, while guiding the women’s track & field team to CCC championships in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.  He has coached C of I athletes to four CCC cross country individual titles and 69 track & field individual crowns; coached 34 cross country and 153 track & field competitors who have earned All-CCC honors; while coaching Hillary Holt to nine individual NAIA national championships (two cross country individual titles, indoor titles in the 800, mile (twice), and 3,000-meters, and three outdoor titles in the 1,500-meters) and 17 All-America awards; the women’s distance medley relay to the 2013 and 2014 indoor national titles; Sora Klopfenstein (steeplechase), Sarah Johnson (5,000-meters) and Tiana Thomas (400-meter hurdles) to individual outdoor national titles; and Greg Montgomery to 10 All-America honors, including three national runner-up finishes.
 
NATIONAL APPERANCES: In cross country, McCurry has led the Coyote men to 10 team NAIA Championship appearances (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), with C of I earning a seventh-place finish in 2015 and a tenth-place finish in 2009, with the Lady Yotes qualifying for eight consecutive NAIA Championships (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), with C of I finishing as the national runner-up in 2012 and 2013.  The Lady Yotes have been ranked as high as No. 2 in the NAIA Top-25 Cross Country Poll, with the Coyote men elevating to the No. 7 position – with both teams earning a Top-25 ranking each of the past nine seasons. In indoor track, the Coyote men have qualified individual for the NAIA Championships 10 times (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), placing 13th in 2013, while the Lady Yotes have qualified 10 times (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), with the team finishing third overall in 2014. In outdoor  track, McCurry has sent both teams to all 12 NAIA Championship events, with his 2014 women’s team placing sixth overall and the men’s team placing 13th in 2013.
 
2948BEFORE C OF I: McCurry was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Eastern Oregon University, helping EOU to a national runner-up finish at the 2002 NAIA Men’s Cross Country Championships and the 2003 CCC title in men’s track & field.
