Biography

AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Klopfenstein is in her fourth season with the Coyote cross country and track programs; during the  2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, named to the Cascade Conference All-Academic Team in both sports; in 2015-16, honored as a NAIA Scholar-Athlete in both sports; in 2016, named to the CoSIDA College Division Academic All-District 4 team.

CROSS COUNTRY: As a junior, earned All-CCC honors with a tenth-place finish at the CCC Championships, while placing 45th at the NAIA Championships; had a top time of 17:43 at the Inland Empire Classic; in 2014, earned All-CCC and NAIA All-America honors after a banner season; recorded a career-best 5,000-meter time of 17:10, finishing as the top small-college finisher at the Inland Empire Classic, earning her CCC and NAIA Runner of the Week honors; won the individual title at the Roger Curran Invite, clocking a 4,000-meter time of 14:40; placed second at the CCC Championships (17:55) and seventh at the NAIA National Championships (18:03); as a freshman, earned All-CCC and NAIA All-America honors, leading C of I to a CCC title and a runner-up finish at the NAIA Championships; ran a season-best time of 17:24 at the Inland Empire Classic, followed by a third-place finish at the CCC Championships (18:48) and an eighth-place finish at the NAIA Championships (18:05).

TRACK & FIELD: As a junior, earned NAIA All-America honors indoors in both the 3,000-meters and distance medley relay; placed third overall at Nationals in the 3,000-meters (9:59.87); outdoors, earned All-America honors in the 1,500-meters with a personal-best time of 4:32.59, placing fifth at Nationals; also took fifth in the 1,500-meters at the CCC Championships; in 2015, competed only during the indoor season, recording top times of 5:09 in the mile-run, 10:17 in the 3,000-meters, and 18:09 in the 5,000-meters; as a freshman, earned NAIA Indoor All-America honors, placing second at the NAIA Championships in the 3,000-meters (9:59), while running a top-time of 5:03 in the mile-run; outdoors, earned All-CCC honors with a third-place finish in the 1,500-meters (4:37) - placing tenth at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in the event.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2013 graduate of Meridian High, where she competed in both cross country and track; in cross country, placed 12th at the 2012 5A state championships (18;48); during the 2013 track season, won the 3,200-meter 5A state title (10:49), while placing third in both the 800-meters (2:19) and 1,600-meters (4:59).

PERSONAL: Studying international political business; daughter of Ed Klopfenstein and Naho Nakashima; sister Sora ran for the Yotes from 2010-14, earning All-America honors in cross country and was a national champion in the steeplechase.
