OLYMPIA, Wash. - The College of Idaho hit .426 as a team and put up nine blocks Saturday afternoon, sweeping Evergreen 25-6, 25-12, 25-21 at the Costantino Recreation Center to move to 9-0 and 2-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

The nine-match start matches the 2017 team's 9-0 opening. A win in the Yotes' next match would give the program its best start in more than a decade.

College of Idaho committed four attack errors in the entire match, one of them in a first set that turned into a rout. Tied at 6, the Yotes scored the final 14 points, getting kills from Kelsy Stanger, Cierra Bohrn and Cora Young and an ace from Avery Lewis before an Alexa Wheeler and Stanger block ended it.

The second set followed the same pattern. Evergreen pulled within 10-8 on a Jayden Vaimaona ace, then managed just four more points the rest of the way.

The Geoducks made their best push in the third, taking a 16-12 lead behind Sophia Scroggins and Mikayla Kelly. College of Idaho answered with seven straight points, four of them on Scroggins attack errors, and Evergreen never got even again.

Addison McKarcher was the most efficient hitter on the floor, converting six of seven swings for a .857 percentage while adding a match-high six blocks. Stanger also had six kills, and Jessica Stires added six with no errors. Young hit .500 with five kills.

Lewis anchored the back row with 13 digs and served four of the Yotes' seven aces. Shaynee McWilliams handed out 11 assists in two sets, and Whitney Pierzga added seven.

Scroggins led Evergreen with seven kills and 10 digs. Bright Brubaker also had seven kills. Jayden Vaimaona and Riley Mangan split setting duties with nine and eight assists, and Jaci Yamada finished with eight digs and two aces.

Evergreen hit .021 for the match with 23 attack errors and fell to 1-5, 0-2.
