CALDWELL, Idaho – The No. 9-ranked College of Idaho women's soccer team overcame an early equalizer and used a dominant offensive performance to defeat Walla Walla University, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Simplot Stadium. The victory improved the Yotes to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
 
The Yotes controlled play from the opening whistle, outshooting the Wolves 29-2 and holding a commanding 17-2 advantage in shots on goal. College of Idaho also earned seven corner kicks while limiting Walla Walla to just one chance from the corner.
 
College of Idaho struck first in the seventh minute when Abbi Roubidoux found the back of the net off a setup from Alondra Osuna, giving the Yotes an early 1-0 lead. Roubidoux finished with a game-high seven shots and four shots on goal.
 
Walla Walla answered against the run of play in the 13th minute as Emily Mijaljevic converted the visitors' only shot on target of the first half to level the score at 1-1.
 
The Yotes quickly reasserted control and regained the lead in the 31st minute. Madison Little scored her first goal of the season, and College of Idaho carried a 2-1 advantage into the latter stages of the opening half. Just over 10 minutes later, Claire Busse connected on her first goal of the day off an assist from Isis Villafane, extending the lead to 3-1 before halftime.
 
Despite generating 13 second-half shots, the Yotes were kept off the scoreboard for much of the final 45 minutes thanks to a strong effort from Walla Walla goalkeeper Allanah Rodriguez, who finished with 13 saves. College of Idaho continued to create chances throughout the half, including a penalty kick opportunity in the 66th minute.
 
Busse eventually put the match away in the 79th minute, finishing another pass from Villafane for her second goal of the contest and the final 4-1 margin. Villafane recorded assists on both of Busse's goals, while Osuna added an assist on the opening tally.
 
Busse and Little each scored their first goals of the season, while Roubidoux netted her fourth goal of the year. Peyton Scott led the Yotes with three shots on goal, and Busse converted both of her attempts on frame.
 
In goal, Molly McCabe earned the victory after making one save in the first half. Kate Pereur played the second half to combine on the win as the Yotes allowed just two total shots all afternoon.
 
College of Idaho will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 25, when the Yotes travel to Eugene, Ore., to face Bushnell University. Kickoff is scheduled for ­­4:30 p.m. MT.
