ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Three different players found the back of the net and No. 10 The College of Idaho opened its 2026 season with a convincing 3-1 road victory over Soka University on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Yotes wasted little time setting the tone, scoring twice in the opening 13 minutes before adding a late insurance goal to secure the season-opening win. The College of Idaho outshot Soka 15-6 overall and held an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.
 
Alondra Osuna sparked the attack for the Yotes, recording a goal and an assist. The senior opened the scoring in the ninth minute when she finished a pass from Rylee Russell, giving The College of Idaho a 1-0 lead in the 9^th minute. Just over four minutes later, Osuna turned provider, assisting  Morgan Nicoletti's first career goal that doubled the advantage to 2-0.
 
The Yotes carried that two-goal cushion into halftime after limiting Soka to three first-half shots.
 
Soka cut into the deficit in the 57th minute when Sabrina Benjamin scored off an assist from Arlene Yepez, making it a 2-1 contest. However, The College of Idaho continued to generate offensive pressure throughout the second half.
 
Abbi Roubidoux was a constant threat in the attacking third, leading all players with five shots and three shots on goal. After striking the post earlier in the half and forcing multiple saves, Roubidoux delivered the decisive insurance goal in the 81st minute, scoring unassisted to restore the Yotes' two-goal lead at 3-1.
 
Nicoletti and Osuna each scored on their lone shots on goal, while Russell contributed an assist and registered two shots on target. Molly McCabe earned the victory in goal, making one save while helping the Yotes keep Soka's opportunities to a minimum.
 
The College of Idaho finished with five corner kicks and matched Soka with six fouls.
 
With the win, the Yotes improve to 1-0 on the season. The California road trip continues Thursday as No. 10 The College of Idaho faces No. 25 The Master's University in a matchup of nationally ranked programs. Kickoff is scheduled for Aug. 27 in Santa Clarita, Calif.
