UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - The fourth ranked College of Idaho took down the Western Washington Univ. Vikings 16-7 in the PNCLL semifinal game. The Yotes look to use the momentum in Sunday's championship game to claim their first PNCLL title since 2019 and third in program history.
Following a great save by
Brogan Rice, the Yotes built from the back and found
Eli Longstreet on the clearance who shot over two Viking defenders to put the Yotes on the board first. C of I took the lead and would never relinquish it. College of Idaho went into the halftime break with a 6-2 lead and scored another six goals in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Trevor Shoopman scored four goals and added a pair of assists to lead the Yotes with six points in the contest. With an impressive four assists,
Colin Lantz scored a goal to earn five points in the semifinal.
Finn Simon scored three goals and
Grayson Flatten scored a pair.
Hunter Duran,
Luqa Longstreet,
Logan Bjornethun,
Cameron Rudis, and
Wyatt Neu all contributed a goal.
With the semifinal under wraps, the Yotes turn their attention to a rematch against the No.7 University of Montana in the championship game. The Yotes needed a double overtime goal to win their regular season matchup 10-9 at Simplot Stadium in April.
