PRESCOTT, Ariz. - College of Idaho extended its Arizona road trip dominance Monday, sweeping Embry-Riddle (AZ) 15-6 and 17-5 to move to 6-2 on the season, securing back-to-back series sweeps.
Game 1: College of Idaho 15, Embry-Riddle 6 (5 inn.)
Madelyn Powell fueled a 15-hit outburst, driving in six runs on a double, triple and a fifth-inning grand slam as the Yotes run-ruled the Eagles in five innings. College of Idaho sent 11 batters to the plate in a six-run third inning that broke open a 3-2 game.
Kina Watts added three hits and three runs, and Chloe Flerchinger and Marti Anderson each drove in two. Drew Williams tossed a complete game, striking out three with no walks.
Embry-Riddle's Leah Salas homered and drove in three.
Game 2: College of Idaho 17, Embry-Riddle 5 (7 inn.)
The Yotes' offense stayed hot in the nightcap, erupting for 19 hits and getting major production from their bench. Senior Ysabella Villegas blasted a three-run homer as part of a six-run seventh inning, and the pinch-hitting unit combined for six RBIs in the final three frames, including run-producing appearances from Emily Hughes, Leah North and Grace Leedom.
Starter Rylee Smith worked the first two innings before Grace Neer delivered five shutout frames in relief, allowing no hits and striking out three.
Kayla Vahlberg finished 5-for-5 with four RBIs, while Anderson added four more RBIs on a 3-for-5 effort. Kamryn Ham reached base four times and scored four runs, helping the Yotes pull away after Embry-Riddle briefly tied the game 5-5 in the third.
