LEWISTON, Idaho - The College of Idaho women's tennis team fell 7-0 to Lewis-Clark State on Friday, dropping their second match in as many days.
The Yotes started strong in doubles, with Hristina Ljuba and Nicole Tran winning a tight 7-5 match at No. 1 doubles. Lewis-Clark State captured the remaining doubles points as Gwyn Heim and Lulu Monnayoo won 6-2 at No. 2 and Rayana Shah and Naiara Montero prevailed 6-4 at No. 3.
In singles, the Yotes fought hard but were unable to secure a win. Berkley Klarich pushed Shah to three sets at No. 1 singles before falling 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. Adele Long lost 7-5, 6-2 to Monnayoo at No. 2, and Kinsey Lockhart fell 6-1, 6-3 to Heim at No. 3. Alyssa Johnson dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Govea at No. 4, Nicole Tran fell 7-5, 6-2 to Gettmann at No. 5, and Kylie Barrus lost 6-0, 6-1 to Carisa Liebenberg at No. 6.
The Yotes will return to action next week as they continue nonconference play.
