The College of Idaho's athletics department is proud to announce that long-time educator and coach Christina Bishop has been named assistant coach for the Yotes' cheer program. Bishop brings nearly two decades of coaching success and more than 28 years of teaching experience to a thriving athletics program.
"Taking my coaching to the college level is a dream come true," Bishop said. "I'm so excited to be coaching at College of Idaho and to support our student-athletes as they develop both on and off the field."
A Proven Coaching Record
Bishop has coached for 19 years, starting with 17 years at the middle-school level, where her squads consistently won competitions. In her first year coaching at the high-school level, she guided the team to the state competition, underscoring her ability to build winning programs quickly.
Educator and Lifelong Dancer
In addition to her coaching background, Bishop is a dedicated educator. She has taught every grade except second, third and fourth over a 28-year teaching career and currently teaches 10th and 12th grade at Mountain View High School. Her passion for performance began early—she has danced since age five and still takes ballet classes, fitting in tap lessons when her schedule allows. Her classroom experience and lifelong love of dance position her to mentor student-athletes academically and artistically.
Personal Snapshot
Bishop's life outside of school is just as energetic. She enjoys traveling, shopping, home decorating and watching Formula 1 racing. She loves snow skiing, the beach and Disneyland. She and her husband of 31 years have two daughters: Erika (21), a student at Boise State University, and Natalie (15), a sophomore varsity cheerleader at Rocky Mountain High School. The family's goldendoodle—Jake from State Farm—keeps them laughing. Her guilty-pleasure shows include Real Housewives, Emily in Paris and General Hospital, and her favorite treats are sushi, Dutch Bros. White Annihilators and frosted sugar cookies.
