Box Score 2 OMAHA, Neb. – No. 18 College of Idaho volleyball closed out the CSM Invitational on a high note Saturday, rallying past top-25 William Carey in five sets, 12-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 15-10, before dispatching Saint Francis (Ind.) in four, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-16, to finish the tournament with a 3-1 record.
The Yotes (6-1) overcame a sluggish start against William Carey, dropping the first set before clawing back with steady play at the net. Abigail Flerchinger paced the attack with 12 kills, while Cierra Bohrn added nine on .368 hitting. Middle blocker Alexa Wheeler hit .571 with nine kills and four blocks, and setter Shaynee McWilliams totaled 22 assists and two service aces. C of I took control in the decisive fifth set, hitting .438 to seal their second top-25 win of the young season.
In the afternoon, C of I shook off a narrow opening-set loss to Saint Francis by dominating the next three frames. Senior outside hitter Mia Hutchinson powered the attack with 20 kills, while Bohrn hit .400 with 10 kills and Wheeler chipped in five kills and five blocks. McWilliams turned in another strong all-around effort with 31 assists, three aces, and four block assists. The Yotes controlled the match at the net with 11 team blocks and held the Cougars to .094 hitting.
College of Idaho returns home after a 3-1 showing at the tournament, the lone setback coming in five sets to No. 20 Midland.
