No. 3 Yotes Dominate Dordt in Season Opener

CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho women's soccer team opened the 2025 campaign in emphatic fashion, defeating Dordt University 3–1 at Simplot Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Yotes, ranked No. 3 nationally in the preseason poll, showcased their attacking depth and defensive discipline in a commanding performance.

Senior captain Gianna Yslava led the charge, contributing to all three Yote goals. The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when Yslava clinically finished a threatening ball from Allison Moultray, giving the Yotes a deserved lead after sustained pressure.

Just two minutes later, the Yotes doubled their advantage. After Yslava's shot was blocked, Natasja Davis quickly one-touched the rebound to Abbi Roubidoux, who calmly slotted home a sitter to make it 2–0.

The second half saw continued dominance from the Yotes, culminating in a third goal in the 72nd minute. Yslava delivered a pinpoint cross to Eden Makaafi, who buried the insurance goal to seal the win. Dordt's lone highlight came in the 88th minute when Karinna Tel, the reigning GPAC Player of the Year, made a dazzling solo run past two defenders and finished coolly to spoil the shutout.

The Yotes outshot Dordt 34–4, including a staggering 16 shots on goal compared to Dordt's 3. College of Idaho also earned 10 corner kicks to Dordt's 3, reflecting their territorial dominance throughout the match.

A total of 26 Yotes saw action in the game, demonstrating the squad's depth and versatility. Goalkeeper Alivia Brenchley made two saves in the win, while Dordt's Lydia Zylstra was kept busy with 13 saves.

The Yotes will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming neutral-site matches against No. 23 Science & Arts (Okla.) and No. 7 John Brown (Ark.) in Littleton, Colorado on September 4th and 6th respectively.
