MILWAUKIE, Ore. – The College of Idaho softball team secured a Cascade Collegiate Conference series victory over Warner Pacific despite falling in both games of Saturday's doubleheader at Milwaukie High School. The Yotes dropped the opener 4-3 before falling 5-4 in the finale.
In Game 1, the Yotes struck first in the fourth inning when Hallie Campbell singled to center field, bringing home Ashlynn Nixon. Quincy Cronquist and Isabella Qunell added runs in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively, with Sydney Lierman driving in Qunell. Pitcher Abbey Brooks (10-1) suffered her first loss of the season despite allowing just four runs in the fourth. Both teams stranded six runners. Kamryn Ham led the Yotes offensively, going 2-for-3 with two singles to center.
Game 2 saw Ambrie Jones pitch six strong innings for the Yotes, recording six strikeouts. Drew Williams took over in the sixth, but Warner Pacific capitalized on a pair of walks and timely hits to take the lead. Nixon paced the offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Brinley Iverson anchored the defense with four putouts in left field.
Despite Saturday's losses, the Yotes secured the series win with their doubleheader sweep on Friday. They will return home next weekend for a CCC matchup.
