WAXAHACHIE, Texas – The College of Idaho women's volleyball team faced mixed results on Saturday at the Texas Two-Step Tournament, dropping a five-set thriller to Oklahoma Wesleyan before bouncing back with a decisive sweep over the tournament's co-host Nelson University.
In the first match, the Yotes fought hard but fell short against Oklahoma Wesleyan in a 3-2 loss. Abby Draghici led the way for College of Idaho with 17 kills on a .625 hitting percentage, while Haley McUne added nine kills and five digs. Despite their efforts, Oklahoma Wesleyan managed to edge out the Yotes in the fifth set.
Determined to finish the day on a high note, the Yotes took on Nelson University in the second match and secured a dominant 3-0 victory. Haley McUne shone once again, leading the team with 17 kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Janae Rayborn added 11 kills at a .360 clip, while Deshy Sandoval anchored the defense with 20 digs.
The Yotes showed significant improvement in their second match, hitting .303 as a team compared to .089 in the earlier contest. The strong performance allowed College of Idaho to finish the weekend with a 3-1 record at the tournament.
