No. 19 Yotes Softball Take Two from Providence (Mont.)

Providence, Mont. – Lena Zahniser went 3-for-4 with three RBI in game one and Sydney Zachry went 3-for-6 with a run scored and two RBI to lead College of Idaho to a doubleheader sweep of Providence (Mont.) on Friday. The Yotes took game one by a 7-0 margin and the nightcap by an 8-6 advantage.

The day began with the fifth shutout of the season for the Yotes' Annie Polster as she got the support for the win as College of Idaho plated two runs each in the second, third and fifth and a run in the sixth on its way to the 7-0 win.

Zahniser ended the scoreless game in the second with a solo home run and the Yotes added a second run on the inning after a Providence error. She picked up two more RBI on a two out single in the third.

Polster finished the game, scattering three hits and striking out seven in the win.

Game two saw College of Idaho jumped out to a 6-1 in the first two innings with a two-run home run by Lolo Walker in the first and a two-RBI triple by Sydney Zachry in the second to lead the offense for the Yotes en route to an 8-6 win.

Walker finished the game with three RBI and Hattie Hruza along with Zachry had two RBI for the win. Ambrie Jones pitched 4.2 innings of relief, allowing five hits on the way to the win.

The two teams will wrap up the series with another twinbill on Saturday at 11 a.m.
