Medford, Ore.– The College of Idaho Yotes triumphed over Oregon Tech in a rainy, but thrilling Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship game, winning 1-0 to claim their second consecutive title. This victory caps off a stellar tournament run in which the No. 10 Yotes showcased their defensive prowess, not conceding a single goal and outscoring opponents 14-0 over three games.
The match was tightly contested, with the Yotes narrowly edging out Oregon Tech in the second half.
Eden Makaafi scored the game-winning goal shortly after halftime, converting a cross from
Abbi Roubidoux just 36 seconds after half. Makaafi's composed 15-yard strike slotted into the right corner, securing the championship for the undefeated Yotes.
The Yotes dominated statistically, firing 22 shots to Oregon Tech's 11 and creating eight corner kick opportunities compared to five from the Owls. Oregon Tech goalkeeper Sydni Nakamura made nine saves in an impressive display, but the relentless Yotes attack proved too formidable. College of Idaho goalkeeper
Alivia Brenchley contributed two key saves to preserve the shutout.
The Yotes will now await their next challenge as they advance to the NAIA Opening Round, with their opponent to be announced on November 16th during the NAIA Selection Show.
