LEBANON, Tenn. - The 19th-ranked Yotes women's soccer team was hard to stop on Monday, defeating Shawnee State in a neutral site contest by a score of 9-0.
The Yotes offense was stifling in the first half, as
Maddie Smith scored just 90 seconds into the contest off an assist from
Payton Mongelli. Smith wasn't done there, scoring again in the eighth minute off assists from
Deborah Pond and
Gianna Yslava, jumping out to a quick two goal lead.
Abbi Roubidoux scored her first goal in a Yotes jersey in the 33rd minute of play coming off an assist by
Eden Makaafi. Makaafi would land another assist 10 minutes later, teaming up with
Shaelyn Olsen to feed
Larissa Wegner in the 43rd minute as the Yotes would end the first half up 4-0.
The Yotes offense picked up right where they left off in the first half, scoring just three minutes into the second half off the boot of
Deborah Pond. Two minutes after Pond's goal,
Natasja Davis delivered the first of her two goals in as many minutes as the Yotes offense continued to apply the pressure against the Bears.
Isabel DeVille added her name to the already impressive scorebook, scoring in the 64th minute of play, followed by
Gianna Yslava just four minutes later.
Team play was on full display for the Yotes, ending the first half with six different players recording an assist. The Yotes would end the game with a total of 12 assists in an impressive performance.
The Yotes will be back in action on Saturday against Hope International with kickoff slated for 9 a.m.
