CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 17 Yotes women's soccer program saw a healthy balance of offense and defense in a dominating win over Pacific (Ore.), 3-0, to round out conference play.
The defense was one of the keys to success for the Yotes on Sunday, as they prevented the Boxers from recording a single shot in the contest. The Yotes offense was just as hot, firing off 22 shots in the contest en route to the three goal victory.
Alexis Haws got her first goal as a Yote on a header off a corner kick from
Gracie Walt in the 19th minute of action. Haws would follow that up with yet another header off a corner kick by
Payton Mongelli to make it 2-0 in favor of the Yotes. In the 48th minute,
Eden Makaafi got the ball following a pass from
Larissa Wegner which made it 3-0, a scoreline which would hold to be the final.
The game saw Yotes grad student
Chloe Teets break the program record for minutes played, now sitting at 5,283 minutes played in her illustrious Yotes career.
The Yotes will begin conference play on Friday, heading to play Evergreen State on Friday.
