2023 Softball Notebook (Week 10)

Send Off: Prior to Saturday's series finale, College of Idaho will recognize: Sydney Zachry, Lexi Navarrete, Hattie Hruza, Lauren Garman, Lauren Gordon, Daralyn Moura, Tanner Higgins, Katelyn Wilfert, Kaily Christensen, Hannah McNerney, Lindsey Jones, Haley Loffer, Kennedy Sorenson and Lysette Villegas.

Hot Bats: On its way to a .347 batting average, 13 Yotes are hitting at a clip above .300 - five of which are hitting over .400. The .451 batting average for Haley Loffer is the fifth highest in program history. Loffer holds the third best with a .464 clip from last season. The team batting average of .347 is 30 points higher than the best in program history as the 2015 and 2018 squads hit .317.

Racking up the Runs: Haley Loffer leads the Yotes with 58 runs as College of Idaho has outscored its opponents by a 289 to 76 margin. The 289 runs are the fifth most in program history. Loffer has the top three single-season marks in program history.

Hit Parade: Three Yotes - Hattie Hruza (48), Haley Loffer (46) and Kaylee MacDannald (43) - have at least 40 hits on the season. Madelyn Powell is just two hits shy with 38.

Double Trouble: Haley Loffer and Kaylee MacDannald lead College of Idaho with 13 and 10 doubles, respectively. In 30 of 39 games, College of Idaho has had at least one double, earlier this season, the Yotes had six against Northwest on March 11, 2023. The most since a seven-double game against Arizona Christian on January 30, 2021.

Triple the Fun: Hattie Hruza has a team-best seven triples - just one shy of the program record held by Ashley Van Horne in 2014.  

Fast Starts: College of Idaho has outscored the opponents, 54-20 in the first inning; 20-1 when they scored in the first inning and 27-1 when they score first.

Analysis of the Hitting Success: College of Idaho is hitting .362 with runners in scoring position and .327 with runners on base. 

Stifling Pitching: In 28 of 39 games, College of Idaho pitchers have held opponents to two runs or less on its way to a 1.59 ERA. Pitchers Katelyn Wilfert (1.19) and Hannah McNerney (2.00) have surrendered just 64 runs in 211 innings. The duo have racked up 157 strikeouts.
