CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 13 Yotes softball team enjoyed a successful weekend, completing a four game sweep of Carroll, winning on Saturday by scores of 6-1 and 9-0.
Game oneÂ
The Yotes were led by a three-hit, 2 RBI performance from
Kaylee MacDannald, as she was the only Yote with multiple hits in the game.
Haley Loffer started off the game with a leadoff double in the top of the first, and MacDannald was able to drive her home with a single to right center field. Carroll would answer back in the fourth inning on a sacrifice bunt from Kirsten Norris, tying the game at one.
MacDannald had her second RBI of the game in the fifth, doubling down the left field line which scored
Lysette Villegas. In the fifth,
Katelyn Wilfert hit her first home run of the year out to left field, which drove in MacDannald and
Haley Loffer. In the sixth,
Kaily Christensen singled to left, and was thrown out trying to turn a single into a double, but
Hattie Hruza scored in the process, making the score 6-1.
Hannah McNerney was stellar once again on the mound, pitching a complete game while only allowing four hits and striking out six batters. Abby Hanley's record dropped to 0-4 in the loss, pitching a complete game herself and striking out three.
Game two
The Yote bats in the series finale saw multi-hit performances from
Lexi Navarrete,
Kaily Christensen, and
Hallie Holland, each recording a pair of hits.
Haley Loffer wasted no time at all getting the Yotes on the board, hitting a homer on the second pitch of the game, which was her fourth of the weekend.
Hannah McNerney drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, which drove in Navarrete, as the score heading into the second inning was 2-0.
In the second, Navarrete added a home run of her own, as she drove in Loffer and Holland with a three-run shot to center field.
Hattie Hruza would add to the tally, doubling to right center field while driving in a run.
Lysette Villegas drove in her first RBI on an error, and
Lindsey Jones singled while driving in a pair for her first RBI's of the year.
Katelyn Wilfert improved her record to 6-0 on the year, going all five innings while only allowing a pair of hits and striking out three. Kennedy Venner's record dropped to 0-2 in the loss, in what was her second appearance of the season.
The Yotes return to Symms Field with a matchup with Oregon Tech next weekend.
