Katelyn Wilfert POW: Two weeks ago, senior pitcher
Katelyn Wilfert was named the CCC/Rize Laboratory Pitcher of the Week. Against Menlo (Feb. 10), she allowed five hits, struck out six and allowed two unearned runs in the win. She followed that up with a one-hitter and a shutout of No. 21 Jessup University (Feb. 11). In that win, she struck out four and did not walk a batter. Earlier this season, Wilfert pitched her second career no-hitter as she blanked Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on January 27. The one-hitter against Jessup was also the second of her career as she allowed just one hit to Bushnell (April 8, 2022).
Hot Bat for the Hot Corner: Kaily Christensen has had a hit in six of nine games, including the last four. She also has had two multi-hit games in 2023. For her career, she has 33 multi-hit games over the last three seasons.
Ten for Ten by Tanner: Tanner Higgins enters the weekend with a 10-game hitting streak, including five multi-hit games for the graduate student. She has scored a run in nine of 10 games, including three multi-run games. Higgins has four extra-base hits, including two triples, a double and a home run. She wrapped up the weekend in Rocklin, Calif. With a 2-for-3 with a run scored and five RBI against No. 22 Jessup University. It was the second five RBI game of the career for Higgins.
Hattie X 2: Hattie Hruza has had a RBI in nine of 10, including two RBI against Embry-Riddle (Jan. 27) and Arizona Christian (Jan. 28). Hruza also has two home runs and two triples on her way to a .429 batting average.
Loffer Leadoff: Leadoff hitter
Haley Loffer has a team-best .520 batting average with a team-best 13 hits and 17 runs scored to go along with nine stolen bases. Loffer holds the school record for stolen bases (124) and walks (117) and is second all-time in batting average (.375). She. is two hits away from 200 for her career in doing so, she would become the fifth player in program history to reach this milestone. Loffer is nine RBI away from 100 when she reaches that milestone, she'll become just the sixth player to achieve this feat.
Pop from Powell: Newcomer
Madelyn Powell has made an immediate impact with a hit in nine of 10 games, including six multi-hit games. She also has had a RBI in six contests, including four multi-RBI games.
Marvelous Makenna: Makenna Luke has a hit in seven of eight hit games, including back-to-back multi-hit games against Menlo and Jessup on Feb. 10. Luke also had a pair of multi-RBI games against Menlo (Feb. 10) and Jessup (Feb. 11). She has had a double in three of the last four games.
Relax Lexi: Lexi Navarrete has drawn five walks in the first 10 games. The walks rank second on the team behind
Haley Loffer, who has recorded seven.
Good Night from Grace: Freshman
Grace Neer was masterful in her Yotes debut, allowing just a single and struck out three in her first collegiate win over Menlo on February 11.
McNerney Mastery: Hannah McNerney has pitched four-straight complete games to begin the season. For her career, she has pitched 38 complete games which ranks seventh all-time. She is one away sixth and 39 which is held by Jody Zillner (2009-10). McNerney has fanned 270 batters which ranks seventh all-time. Her and teammate
Katelyn Wilfert are seeking to join the 300 strikeout club which has been done by just five Yotes in program history.
Kounting on Kaylee: In her 10 starts,
Kaylee MacDannald has scored a run in nine of 10 games and had a hit in seven of 10 games.
A perfect 10: Teammates
Hattie Hruza and
Tanner Higgins enter the weekend with a 10-game hitting streak. Higgins is second on the team with five multi-hit games and Hruza has had two.
Catching It All: Sydney Zachry has been the starting catcher for the Yotes in 81 games over the last four seasons.
Sibling Love: Lysette and
Ysabella Villegas are sisters and proud to be teammates together at College of Idaho. They played together in high school at nearby Bishop Kelly High School.
