SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The 15th-ranked College of Idaho women's soccer team punched their ticket to the CCC Championship for the third consecutive season, defeating Southern Oregon on Wednesday night.
Both teams had plenty of scoring chances early, as both keepers made saves to keep the game scoreless. Late in the first half, freshman
Alondra Osuna scored the opening goal of the game, coming off an assist from
Natasja Davis, as the Yotes took a 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half,
Natasja Davis scored her first of the postseason to add to the Yotes lead, making it 2-0.
Shaelyn Olsen contributed her name to the score sheet, scoring her first career goal to essentially seal the deal for the Yotes, making it a 3-0 game. In the 90th minute, coming off a foul in the box, SOU's Malaika Quigley scored on a penalty kick, ending the streak of 12 consecutive shutouts for the Yotes.
The Yotes advance to the CCC Championship for the third straight season, taking on Northwest once again for the conference crown on Friday.
