CALDWELL, Idaho - The 15th-ranked College of Idaho women's soccer program earned their 11th consecutive win on the season, shutting out the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon by a score of 1-0.
The game saw both defenses cause the offense problems, as Eastern Oregon was able to hold the Yotes to just nine shots in the contest, while the Yotes defense held EOU to only one shot, which was saved by
Hannah McFadden.
The defensive heavy contest featured only one goal, coming off the foot of
Eden Makaafi. Makaafi was able to take the pass from
Kyndra Lyons and put it past the keeper in the 28th minute of the game. The goal from Makaafi was her ninth of the season.
The shutout from the Yotes defense was the seventh straight game where the Yotes would hold their opponent without a goal, only allowing one goal in conference play. The win also clinches a spot in the CCC Championships, becoming the first team in the conference to clinch a spot.
The Yotes will return to the pitch next Friday, opening senior weekend by hosting Corban.
