Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 22 College of Idaho women's soccer team continued action at home, taking down Rocky Mountain College by a score of 2-0.
Kaeden Hansen got the scoring started early, netting her first of the season as the Yotes took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Rocky had a chance to answer just a few minutes later, as Tara Appleby took a free kick from outside the box with
Hannah McFadden fully extending to make the diving save to keep the game at 1-0.
In the 30th minute, off a corner by
Payton Mongelli, the Bears put the ball into their own net as the Yotes would take a 2-0 lead in the first half.
Lizzy Gonzalez had an excellent chance to make it a 3-0 game off a bicycle kick from just inside the box, but Mila Allison was able to make the save.
"Tonight was a really tough game. Rocky is always really well coached," added head coach
Brian Smith. "They have caused us problems over the years. I thought the girls stayed disciplined and found a way to get a couple by half. Hannah didn't have a ton to do tonight overall but the couple saves she made showed why she is one of the top keepers in the conference. I have to mention our back line as well. Another shutout posted. This group truly has been rock solid all year and kept a cleen sheet once again. So proud of this group."
Next up is a matchup on homecoming against Providence at Simplot Stadium on Saturday with a kickoff time slated for 5:30 p.m.
