CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 22 Yotes women's soccer program suffered their first defeat of conference play in a heartbreaker, losing to Northwest, 2-1.
Going into Friday's matchup, the top two teams in the Cascade Collegiate Conference would face off in Caldwell, the winner in the driver's seat heading into the last game of the season. The game, as expected, was highly physical as both teams were jockeying to be at the top of the table.
Claire Jo Diede got the scoring started for the Eagles in the 16th minute, as Northwest would hold the lead until late in the second half. Diede would net her second of the game as the Eagles took a 2-0 lead.
Gianna Yslava would score the lone game for the Yotes just 62 seconds later as the game would end 2-1.
With the win, Northwest clinched the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season championship heading into the conference tournament taking place in two weeks.
